Enerven have managed the maintenance contract with ElectraNet since 1998 and continue to go above and beyond for them to this day.

The customer

ElectraNet is a specialist in electricity transmission, providing energy and infrastructure solutions across Australia.

Their core business is to build, own, operate, maintain, and develop the electricity highways that transport electricity over long distances, to urban centres and to remote areas. ElectraNet own over $2.5 billion of electricity assets and have one of the highest network reliability levels in Australia. Today their network is made up of over 5,600 circuit kilometres of transmission lines and over 90 high voltage substations, covering an area of over 200,000 square kilometres. They also own the largest private telecommunications network in South Australia, which facilitates the remote monitoring and operating of the transmission network.

The Relationship

Enerven commenced its maintenance service provision relationship with ElectraNet in 1998, whilst still operating as part of ETSA Utilities under the Construction and Maintenance Services group. Just as we have evolved into Enerven; our Asset Management Services have evolved with the changing needs of the power industry and that of our client.

A collaborative approach from a committed team of highly skilled asset management professionals has been the cornerstone of many successful service contracts over the last 20 years, in both construction and maintenance of assets.

Our commitment

Enerven have always been there for ElectraNet - from Mt Gambier to Port Lincoln to Pimba and everywhere in between, rain, hail or shine, day or night, when ElectraNet need us, we are there.

Our greatest example of this has to be the state-wide blackout South Australia experienced in 2016. The blackout was caused by severe and wide-spread weather conditions, which the Bureau of Meteorology described as being the worst in 50 years. Over 100 employees were coordinated and deployed to provide an emergency response unit to repair 22 fallen structures, which occurred on three critical transmission feeders during the storm.

Our employees worked around the clock in extreme conditions to ensure power was restored to the State safely. Temporary and replacement transmission towers were brought into South Australia from interstate to eventually replace the 22 towers severely damaged by strong winds, and on average power was restored to customers within 16 hours.

We support our client’s goals and vision to be a leader in Transmission Network Service Provision and we do this by providing industry best practice Asset Management Services.
