Carbon Neutral Adelaide Awards

In mid-November, Enerven won two awards at the Carbon Neutral Adelaide Awards, held at U City Function Centre.

The awards were: Low Carbon Economy Award ‒ for the most outstanding organisation to embrace the transition to a low carbon economy, successfully reducing emissions while growing their business. Partner of the Year Award ‒ for the most significant carbon emissions reduction achievement by an organisation.

General Manager, Richard Amato said “Over the last 15 years, Enerven has grown to be one of the largest infrastructure businesses in South Australia. We have been able to deliver innovative solutions that are helping our customers reduce their energy costs and create a more sustainable future for Australia. These recent projects, such as SA Water’s Zero Cost Energy Future (with 4.14MW installed with a further 154MW planned) and the State Government’s Virtual Power Plant project, are great examples of Enerven bringing to life our vision, of connecting you with tomorrow.”

Carbon Neutral Adelaide ‒ a City of Adelaide initiative, to establish a community to help make Adelaide a carbon neutral city. There are currently over 175 organisations in the Carbon Neutral Adelaide Partner Program which continues to grow, demonstrating the shared community commitment to addressing climate change.

Significant projects contributing to winning these Awards were: PV Solar panel program ‒ with 7.9MW of solar panel infrastructure installed across greater Adelaide. This includes 16 SA Power Networks and Enerven depots, 500 homes as part of the Tesla VPP, private projects such as the Glenelg Surf Life Saving Club and Peakfresh manufacturing plant, and stage one of SA Water’s Zero Cost Energy Future Program. Through smart partnerships with the private sector and government, this equates to an annual saving in CO2 emissions of 6,190 tonnes/ equivalent of taking 2,036 petrol cars off South Australian roads each year.

The Carbon Neutral Adelaide Awards are a joint initiative of the City of Adelaide and the Government of South Australia to acknowledge organisations and individuals who are leading the way in reducing the city’s carbon emissions.
